Janet and Penny – and the boys too – Good on you guys – good to see your still giving it a go. – That is the trouble with any offset or trading scheme – the profiteers will work it to their benefit – and the public servants will not tell our elected representatives the whole story – get rid of the Senior PS and advisors and allow the people to talk directly to the Elected representative – no filtering – There is no point in getting elected representatives who understand if they are just hamstrung by a system that faceless PS operate. This issue is not about the facts – it is about getting the facts to the right people. Example – Issue raised – PS summarizes – PS rights brief – PS allocates priority – PS Files brief – PS outlines to Senior PS with their own touch – Senior PS Outlines to elected representative in 30 seconds with a little comment to ensure the day goes smoothly – after all the fall out is way after the PS’s tenure – sorry to be a sceptic – not really – get real guys – make the PS accountable – not the elected representatives. People power will not work in this instance – there are more PS than caring community members – PS do not participate or understand profiteer thinking – Community and the power of one outnumbered the PoMC PS – with this environment debate, PS outnumber community groups by the thousands. Solution – Have informational lectures and debates with the public servants about the issues under the guise of professional development within each department – eg 1 hour informational on ‘how the long term weather forecasters operate – why do we get it right’ – half way through – lay out your points – sell it to the PS – they will provide a hearing to our representatives with our passion level. – Otherwise you are spinning your wheels!!!!
